A Day in the Life..not so laidback

Alot of people are always curious to know what I do during the day. Some of my girlfriends will say you are so lucky you work for yourself you do what you want too. Ha! You think I want to carry heavy behind fabric around the city and jump from one train to the next to the next. So for those curious about the laidback life. This is what went down today as I prepare for the show

7am: pray, iron clothes and get kid ready for school
8am: he’s out of the house, and it’s on.. sitting and thinking
8:30: cut labels for pillows , cut straps for the totes, organize crap for the day
10:30: out the house bus to the two train with straps, labels fabric, and backpack with laptop (rocking tracksuit and converse today)
12pm: off the train hit sewer and drop of crap at 37thand 8th Street
12:30: head over to FIT 27 and 7th(my midtown office, lol) to check emails and do some research and wait for printer to say I can pick up fabric.
2:00 printer calls says I can come down at 4 and pick up 3 designs (still at FIT answering emails, catching up on design blogs and looking for insurance for this weekends show)
3:00 leave FIT, grab a slice of pizza from local joint, pissed off that Papa Johns is out of slices, eat and head back to fashion district. Head to 38th and 7th to by more webbing for totes, then Shoji on 36 and Broadway to check out more ball chains. then head to train
4:03: Arrive at printers in Dumbo, One design, the most important tote bag design is jacked up. Learned that even in a rush make sure rinters have printout of all graphics to check against. fabric ruined due to nobody’s fault really. I emailed the file and it looked one way, he opened it and it looked another. Sucks, was sad. (He is working to fix it, we’ll see) I look through other designs looking good, we talk, discuss other design changes and deadlines. Out the door by 5 with big behind suitcase
5:10 I finally call my son back who has been calling me off the hook and go to the train
5:15 notice I did not drop off print out, lug stuff back up the steps to go back to printer
5:25 back on train heading to midtown
5:48 Get off train and call fabric company that closes at 6 tell him I am coming to pick up more black fabric.. he gives me 10 minutes
5:58: back at 37and 8th this time talking to cutters and telling him I am going to pick up fabric and bring it back
6:10 at fabric store on 38th and 8th and take fabric roll (wrong fabric) lugg it back to cutter, tell him don’t cut it I will have the fabric store swap out the fabric in the morning
6:35 Head upstairs to talk to my sewer and give her the scoop and the fabric and trims and details. See how we can schedule getting everything done.
7:00
head to train to go home
8:10: Home, chat my son up a bit, and kiss him goodnight
9:00 wash the dishes, eat a hotdog, talk to an old friend on the phone for a few
10:00 watch the Big Idea and check out gossip blogs (10 minute guilty pleasure)
11:00 typing this post and preparing to organize my day for tomorrow. Find and organize my receipts for this show.. calculate addtl costs. and about 2 hours worth of work.. Trying to hit the sack early today. 12:30 goal

That’s my day yall. Live your life Laidback
