This morning I got a call from a distressed gent who came home from a holiday vacation to find that his cat spent the break getting laidback. The cat had messed up Glen’s wife’s favorite bag, the dj tote. Much to his chagrin our site was down for a bit this morning due to maintenance and this savvy husband tracked me down. He googled me and found my info and gave me a call to see if we had it in stock. He wanted to give it to his wife today and here at laidback I’m all about the joy of the simple things, and if all it took was for a dj tote to put a smile on their faces I was game. I met up with Glen at 34th street and made the drop. He actually purchased two because it really is her go to bag. Glen was crazy cool and quite a cutie with his distinguished pepper gray mane. It’s always cool to get reacquainted with friends of laidback. So feel free to shout me out if you have an urgent or special request and I’ll do my best to keep you laidback. Here’s to a Happy New Year guys!!! See you in the 09″
The Real World Brooklyn is preparing to air next week January 7 and I am excited to see pictures up on the MTV site that show Laidback pillows. (pictures from MTV site)
With the impending snow in NYC I plan on chilling hard this weekend and maybe even putting up the tree. Enjoy your weekend wherever you are and enjoy your family and friends. On the spirit of the holiday here is a throwback tribute to the snow and holidays. Peep the skill of the pianist, I enjoyed her more than the song. Let it snow!!
I am presently designing a new collection, a series in Black N White that I am very excited about along with choosing what to sample for a Spring duvet launch. To keep motivated I am constantly perusing the web for new sources of inspiration. Today I stumbled on Mickalene Thomas an artist who’s work channels the soulful 70’s. As a textile designer I am always blown away by painted textiles incorporated into art however she doesn’t stop there, many of her pieces have hand applied rhinestones that add another dimension to its beauty. Most of her subjects are women that she paints so vividly you want to meet. She did her residency at The Studio Museum in Harlem, I can’t wait until she returns to NY for a show.
I spent the weekend working on the new LB BlackNWhite collection. While I have not completed all of the styles I couldn’t help but think about the classics and the way Laidback began. With the weather feeling quite nice I hit the street and took a few picts of the classics that started the brand. In the spirit of nostalgia and old school now until December 20 they will be on sale 2 for $90 or $each. Sale styles include “Ol Play, Boomin, Headline, Soul Chain,Breakin and My Tatt.
Mix and match if you please.
